JOB POSTING

This position works remotely requiring a telecommuting agreement and adherence to the UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines. The employee shall be available in a full-time capacity during assigned telecommuting work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor). While telecommuting/remote working, the employee is responsible for ensuring a worksite environment suitable for accomplishing their regular job duties during scheduled hours of work and, if applicable, arranging for dependent care just as they would if they were working at the regular UCSC worksite.

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a public agency supported by 15 members (13 states, one territory and the Bureau of Indian Education). JOB SUMMARY

Applies QA and/or Release Management concepts, location and department/unit policies and procedures to test a variety of moderately complex software changes or enhancements on projects of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Provides support to domain-specific release management resources in a timely and efficient manner.

Budgeted Salary: $29.60 - $40.67 / Hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

JOB DUTIES

65% - Item and Accessibility Resource Creation
  • Implements standard operating procedures to monitor and assess quality of accessibility resources including text-to-speech (in English and Spanish), braille, English glossaries, translated glossaries, illustration glossaries, American Sign Language videos and/or Spanish translation.
  • Gathers and assembles data on vendor completion of accessibility resources to prepare reports and / or analyses summarizing status and quality.
  • Schedules vendor work to create, turn in accessibility resources to the Test and Item Management System (TIMS), and collect performance metrics to improve QC processes. Monitors and reports out vendor progress.
  • Uses subject matter knowledge on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility to review assessment content. Collects and prepares information about reviews of items for use in discussions to inform decisions and process improvement.
  • On a project basis, performs analytical studies on a variety of policies, research initiatives, programs and issues in support of creating and/or administering fully accessible assessment content and/or implementation of accessibility resources.


35% - Supporting Stakeholder Engagement
  • Supports logistics of stakeholder engagement via advisory groups, in-person events and other venues.
  • Tracks and monitors completion of member specific requests to accessibility resources and implementations.
  • Coordinates program planning and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in support of ongoing work.
  • Prepares, edits, and modifies policy and implementation guidance documents in support of accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Engages in work and training in support of evolving accessibility compliance standards (WCAG, CPACC) in support of creating accessible assessment content.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related area and / or minimum 5 years of experience / training.
  • 3+ years experience in education.
  • 2+ years track record in working with the English learner, accessibility, and inclusion field-academically, instructionally, or in materials development.
  • Experience in creation of assessment items and/or accessibility resources.
  • Organizational and project coordination skills in handling projects that can transfer to managing contractors or vendors.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, verbally.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to create agenda, take notes, schedule, and plan events for members of our committees.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Track record in a strong attention to detail that results in high-quality and error-free materials.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of organizational applications such as Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.
  • Demonstrates contributions to supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of accessibility and inclusion policy.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
  • Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to work remotely from a home office and be able to fulfill requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
  • Ability to work overtime including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs, and work an alternate work schedule shift as required.
  • Ability to travel nationally.
