The University of Notre Dame seeks an experienced and visionary individual to lead a high performing team of nine technology professionals within the Office of Information Technologies to design and implement innovative technology integrations based upon evidence-based teaching and learning strategies.

The Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) leads strategy development and operational oversight for the campus e-learning ecosystem which includes the learning management system, related teaching & learning platform tools, learning analytics and academic technology innovation. The TLT team is a core supporter of the campus learning ecosystem, helping to transform learning at Notre Dame by leveraging deep expertise in emerging technologies, research-based strategies and best practices in teaching and learning in collaboration with faculty. The TLT team integrates learning analytics with emerging technology research and testing to prioritize learning for all students. Virtual and augmented reality, hybrid/online learning and numerous LTI tools are evaluated for their ability to enhance student digital literacy, engagement and learning outcomes.

The Director reports to the Executive Director of Notre Dame Studios & Teaching and Learning Technologies, who reports to the CIO. The Director partners with Notre Dame Learning's Office of Digital Learning and Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence, the Hesburgh Libraries and a diverse group of faculty from across the University to identify, research, integrate and maintain information technology services that support resilient and inclusive pedagogy. The Director serves on campus academic technology strategy committees and represents Notre Dame on multiple industry and higher education professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a field related to learning technologies, information or computer science, or education, curriculum & instruction, or a closely-related field. Five years of experience leading technical teams in an academic setting, which include at least three years of supervisory/management experience in higher education. Teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to develop, articulate and implement a strategic vision that fosters innovative educational technologies.
- Knowledge and experience with implementation of curriculum design theory, principles, and practices as applied to higher education.
- Expertise and experience with a broad array of educational technologies used in higher education including but not limited to:
+ Learning management systems (such as Brightspace or Canvas)
+ Managing technologies which support online, dual-mode and/or HyFlex learning delivery
+ Digital media platforms and tools (such as Panopto, Adobe Creative Suite)
+ Assessment tools (such as Gradescope, Examsoft, Mobius)
+ Designing and managing learning analytics systems for improving faculty and institutional understanding of what works well to improve student engagement and success
+ Research ethnography, human computer interaction, virtual & augmented reality, designing and assessing technology enhanced learning spaces, etc.
- Supervisory skills and strong decision making ability
- Planning and organizational skills; experience with project management
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
